&lt;br/&gt;Abstract: During an inter-tidal zone exploration in the Gulf of Khambhat region, a large number of glazed and nonglazed sherds were recovered along with stone anchors dating back to the late medieval period. Four representative specimens were analysed for elemental oxides using scanning electron microscope and energy dispersive spectrum. The results indicate that silicon oxide content of the glazed sherds varies between approx. 73 and 77%, forming three-fourths of the total composition, while it ranges from 42 to 47.5% in non-glazed sherds. Its content is more than half that in the ordinary sherds. It is difficult to understand the origin of these sherds on the basis of chemical analysis, as this study focuses only on the Gogha area. Therefore, similar studies from different regions in the Gulf of Khambhat will help to understand the origin and divergence in the manufacturing techniques used.</description>

&lt;br/&gt;Abstract: Underwater exploration in the coastal region off Baga (Goa, India) led to the recovery of an isolated stone artefact, which resembles a pyramidal type of anchor stone. This anchor stone is unlike to other pyramidal anchor stones found elsewhere. Pyramidal anchor stones have an apex hole which goes up to the round hole, however Goa anchor stone has no such perforation, but, instead has a rectangular cutting on the apex. The anchor stone is compared with Greek pyramidal anchor stones, and probably belongs to the early centuries of the Christian era.</description>

It deals with the study of past seafaring from material remains of this activity. All the developed countries have made tremendous progress in this field and substantial progress has been made in India in marine archaeology. Over the years the National Institute of Oceanography in collaboration with other Government agencies has undertaken the exploration and excavation of submerged ports and shipwrecks in Indian waters. The paper highlight the objectives, methodology, tools, findings and the progress made in India in the field of marine archaeology during the 50 years of India's independence.</description>

&lt;br/&gt;Abstract: During the last five thousand years in the maritime history of India, Kaling played an important role in diffusing the Indian culture in Southeast Asian countries. Archaeological exploration and excavations, epigraphical evidences and literary sources are noteworthy for the study of maritime history of Kalinga. The ports namely Palur, Pithunda, Kalingapatnam, Khalkatapatna, Tamralipti, Manikapatna had the contacts with Africa, Ceylon, China and Arab and Southeast Asian countries. In this paper an attempt is made to describe the ports of Kalinga and their contact with Southeast Asian countries.</description>
