River flows with tides is responsible as one of the major factors. Being situated in the delta region, marine environments also cause devastation to the inhabitants of Sundarbans. National calamity like cyclones, earthquakes, tsunami, etc. generated in the Bay of Bengal and approaching to Sundarbans is a great threat to inhabitants, loss of properties, ecology, and embankments of these areas. For the protection of Sundarbans' embankments, proper data bank on extreme events such as cyclones, earthquakes, tsunami, tides, coastal currents and other information are extremely significant.
