Title:Structure, tectonics and morphology of Eastern Continental Margin of ndia and Bengal Fan

Project Leader:
Murty, V.S.N.

Vision:

To achieve a comprehensive knowledge of several aspects of the eastern continental margin of India and thereby transfer this knowledge to the user community

Objectives:

  • To study the structural discontinuities and seismic hazards over the coastal and offshore regions of the Eastern Continental Margin of India (ECMI)-from geological and geophysical data.
  • Detailed mapping of geomorphological features such as sedimentary faults, palaeo channels, V-cut valleys, gas seepages over some parts of Eastern Continental Margin of India (ECMI).
  • Study of the Land-Ocean Tectonics and Neo-tectonic activity in the shelf regions
  • To study the deep crustal processes of Bay of Bengal.
