dc.description.abstractThis is a brief report of the Indian National Programmke for the Joint Global Ocean Flux Study (JGOFS-India). This programme involves researchers and modelers. Four laboratories are responsible for field laboratory measurement and developing the models. This programme has primarily concentrated on the Central and Eastern Arabian Sea. Field work was carried out during five cruises aboard research vessel Sagar kanya. This report summarizes the activities of JGOFS-India. Many of the results are published in special issue of Current science 71 (11) 1996 Dec. 10. Besides, biogeochemical research in the Arabian Sea is also a part of JGOFS (India) programme. Six cruises have been undertaken aboard research vessels Sargar sampada and Sargar Kanya
