Chemical examination of the brown alga Stoechospermum marginatum (C. Agardh)
Abstract
The crude methalonic extract of marine algae Stoechospermum marginatum from west coast of India was found to have spasmolytic activity. Search for the pharmacologically active compounds led to the isolation of steroids, fatty acids and an ester characterized on the basis of GC, IR, HNMR and mass spectra. Results of the analysis are reported
